The 2009 Fastnet crew had a fantastic sail over to Le Havre in light airs on Saturday 2nd May in their first qualifying race. The airs were very light and there was a thought at one point that we wouldn't even get around Hurst as the winds died even more (very reminicent of 2005!) However, on arriving at the needles light bouy and heading towards France, the Asometric was flown and we had a steady boat speed of 8 knots in 12 knots of breeze (SW).
On elapsed time only, we were 81 out of 109, and finished alongside other yachts - many of whom were much lighter and newer! We hadd a spectacular race with the crew remaining focused for the full 17 hours 42 minutes.
